AI-powered hybrid search

We're thrilled to announce the beta launch of our AI-powered hybrid search! Access to this new feature is being progressively rolled out to our waiting list customers.

Look for the Embedders option in your index settings menu. Click on the Add embedder button and choose your embedder option:

OpenAI: Easily set up OpenAI as an embedder by entering your OpenAI key. This allows OpenAI to handle the embedding generation.
Custom: Generate the embeddings yourself and integrate them into your documents.

You’ll need to input details like the model and API key for OpenAI, or configure your custom embedder settings. Complete the necessary fields and follow the on-screen prompts to finalize your setup.

Please note: After configuration, the settings update may take some time, especially if your index contains a large number of documents.

Once the update is complete, simply add the hybrid search parameter to your search requests to enjoy the new AI-powered hybrid search experience. Find details about this parameter in the documentation.

Teams management

Meilisearch Cloud introduces the all-new Teams feature. Now you can host and manage your projects in collaboration with your teammates.

Creating a team

From your main dashboard, click on the dropdown menu next to the Meilisearch logo on the top navbar, select Create a team. By clicking it and assigning a name to your team, your collaborative space is instantly set up.

Inviting team members

To invite your colleagues, navigate to the team settings, click on Invite new member, and enter their email address.

When you invite someone to a team, they receive an invitation link via email, and upon acceptance, they can start collaborating immediately. If they already have an account, a notification pops up on their dashboard too.

Collaborating

Every team member can create their own projects, ensuring everyone has a say in the collaboration.

Managing a team

For team owners have extensive control. They can modify project plans and update billing information.

From the Team settings section, team owners can rename their team, manage user invitations and removals, and even transfer ownership.

Documentation crawler

Looking to enhance your documentation with search capabilities? Meilisearch Cloud has just released its new documentation crawler. Let's dive into how it works.

Setting up your project

First of all, you need a running project in Meilisearch Cloud. Once you have created a project, navigate to your project's index list and create a new index.

Crawling your content

When prompted to import your documents, choose 'Documentation Crawler'.

Then, input or paste your documentation's URL and click on ‘Next’.

Click on 'Run' to start crawling your documentation content and push it into a Meilisearch instance. This process may take several minutes.

Post-crawling verification

Once the status changes to 'ready', you'll be able to navigate back to your project's overview. From there, simply click on the project’s URL or choose the 'Preview search' option located in the top menu to access the 'search preview' feature.

Perform a few searches to ensure that your documentation has been indexed correctly. This step is especially useful for understanding the schema of your documents.

Adding a search bar to your documentation

Now that your documentation is indexed, the only thing missing is a search bar. Go back to your project and navigate to your index settings. Go to the 'tools' tab, and then click on 'crawler'. You'll find the crawler settings and related resources. Click on the UI starter kit to learn how to implement a seamless search experience for your project.

Introducing the new Tasks View

This feature enhances your dashboard experience by offering a comprehensive glance at your asynchronous operations.

Core features

Detailed task list: the Tasks View showcases a list of your tasks, detailing their UID, status, type, index UID, duration, and enqueued date. Moreover, you can sort the list based on these parameters.
JSON panel: alongside the list, there's a panel displaying the selected task's JSON, which can easily be copied.
Filtering: you can sift through tasks based on their status, type, and date.
Refresh option: whenever a task is enqueued, the Show new tasks button lets you decide when to view the latest task without disrupting your current view.
Customization: customize the view further by toggling the columns' visibility according to your preferences.

Compatibility notes

Version requirements: this feature is exclusively available for projects that run on Meilisearch v1.0.0 or higher.
Latest version perks: for those using the latest Meilisearch version (v1.3.0), the Tasks View also displays the count of fetched tasks.

Upload a dump ⬆️

Importing a dump with Meilisearch is now easier than ever. You can effortlessly import all your Meilisearch indexes, documents, and settings to your new Cloud project via the Meilisearch Cloud UI.

Follow these steps:

1. Creating a project

Before importing a dump, you must first create a new project.

👉 If you're unfamiliar with creating a dump, you can learn how in the documentation's dedicated section.

2. Importing a dump

Once you click the button to create a new project, a form will appear that invites you to provide the project information.

Enter the required details for your project, including the project name and the region where it will be hosted.

Look for the Upload dump button on the bottom left of the form.

Click this button to browse your files and upload your desired dump file.

👉 The default dumps folder is named dumps, located in the same directory as your Meilisearch binary, unless you specified a different directory when launching your Meilisearch instance.

Once you've selected the dump file, its name should appear next to the button. Click the Create project button to proceed.

3. Accessing your indexes

After a few seconds, you'll see a message notifying you that your project is being created. Click the Go to the index list button to view and manage your indexes.

You can now manage your project and start searching.

And that's it! You've now successfully imported a dump into your new Meilisearch Cloud project!

If your project is running Meilisearch v1.3 or higher, you’ll now see a section to manage “Experimental features” in the project overview.

To activate or deactivate an experimental feature, simply check/uncheck the box ✨
